“…She’s Never Satisfied”

“…She’s Never Satisfied”

Prince’s song, “When Doves Cry” came on and as I bobbed my head and snapped my fingers to the beat I paused after singing the line, “she’s never satisfied.” I stopped and thought to myself…I don’t want to be that woman, but I am.

I’ve realized, in my career journey, that I set a goal, accomplish it, feel fulfilled for a little while but then always think, “What’s next?” And maybe that’s typical with most people, but I’ve accomplished so much in my life that I should be somewhat satisfied…right? I graduated from college, created my Go Girl brand, created a blog and a YouTube show – Conversations With Caprice, climbed up the radio ladder, an actress, and who knows what else. Seriously, I can’t keep up with myself sometimes.  But a part of me still feels like I’m barely starting out in my career. I know…I have issues, lol. It always takes someone else to tell me “You’ve accomplished so much…You’re inspirational…You work hard” before I realize I have achieved a lot.

So I came up with a couple of solutions to help me and others on learn how to be satisfied.

Live in the Moment.

When you’re so focused on the future you forget to live in the present. So sit back and sulk in the journey. Shut your mind off. Think about the NOW.  Enjoy your story. Embrace your path.  Appreciate everything that you have in this very moment instead of letting your mind wander into the future. Slow down and take in your surroundings. Be grateful that you even have this time to live in the moment.

Reflect.
So I recently bought a journal where I can just sit in solitude, connect with my thoughts, reflect, and write. In my thought-process I realized that some things in my life have become full-circle. For instance, 102.7 KIIS-FM was the first radio gig I ever interviewed for. I didn’t get the job, but I didn’t let that deter me from my goals. I went on to work for a few other radio stations, and now I’m back at KIIS but with more experience and more to offer. You might not understand God’s plans at the moment but just know that things will make sense after a while.  Reflecting makes me appreciate life’s journey and bring understanding to some of my situations. . I dare you to ask your self right now, “Are you better off than you were one year ago, one month ago, or one week ago? ~ Timothy Ferriss. Reflect and find gratitude in your story.

Chill out…You’re just ambitious.

I talked to my mother about my “issues” and she told me, “There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious.” Ha! Duh… Why didn’t I think of that? Seriously. I was sitting here wondering what’s wrong with me as if there is a problem with me wanting to reach new heights.   When in reality, I’m doing a good thing. I never want to get comfortable in any situation so I’m always looking for ways to progress and grow…and there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve learned to just chill.

How else should people learn to be satisfied?
