Go Girl Ep 35: Red Flags of Abusive Relationships and How to Escape Safely Ft. Jenesse Center’s Dr. Angela
“Why don’t you just leave?” That’s the worst thing you can say to someone in an abusive relationship.
In fact, anywhere between 50% and 75% of domestic violence homicides happen at the point of separation or after [the victim] has already left [her abuser}.
So the victim might be afraid to leave.
In the previous episode of the Go Girl Podcast I opened up about my past emotionally abusive relationship. In this episode, I have girl talk with Dr. Angela Parker who is the Director of Programs and Training at the Jenesse Center, a Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Program.
We discuss red flags that are harder to detect, how to escape safely, and what friends and family should and should not do to protect the victim.
Please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline for more resources 800-799-7233.
Plus I’ll give this week’s affirmation and music motivation.
